Overview
Sourcing a custom formula supplement manufacturer means finding a plant that can scale from a pilot batch to full retail production without changing your specification. EUPHM runs capsule, tablet, powder and gummy lines from a GMP-certified facility in Guangdong, China. We handle formula development, ingredient sourcing, blending, encapsulation, bottling and labelling under one roof, with documented batch records for every run.

What a Custom Formula Manufacturer Does
A custom formula manufacturer builds a supplement to your specification rather than selling a stock catalogue item. That covers ingredient selection, active dosages, excipient choice, capsule or tablet size, flavour and packaging format. EUPHM keeps the formula tied to your brand, so the same document controls every batch you order. You approve a master formula and a retained sample before mass production starts.
The practical difference shows up at scale. A stock formula limits you to the manufacturer's existing blend. A custom formula lets you adjust dosage, swap a carrier, or move from capsule to powder without changing suppliers. For brands selling on Amazon, in pharmacies or through distributors, that control matters when a retailer asks for a spec sheet or a certificate of analysis.
Formulation and Ingredient Sourcing
Formulation starts with your target label. We review the actives, check compatibility, and confirm the dosage fits the chosen delivery format. A 500 mg capsule cannot hold 1,200 mg of powder, so the format decision comes early. We source vitamins, minerals, botanicals, amino acids and probiotics from qualified suppliers, with country-of-origin documentation available on request.
Excipients are chosen for flow, stability and shelf life, not cost alone. Magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide, cellulose and gelatin or HPMC shells are common. For vegan or halal projects, we switch to plant cellulose capsules and certified sources. Organic claims require USDA organic or EU organic certified ingredients and a separate audit trail. Every incoming lot is quarantined until identity testing clears it.
Quality, Compliance and Shipping
The facility operates under GMP, ISO 22000 and HACCP. Each batch has a manufacturing record, a certificate of analysis and a retained sample held for the shelf life of the product. Third-party lab testing is available for potency, heavy metals, microbiology and residual solvents. We do not claim FDA approval. The plant is FDA-registered, which allows US-bound shipments to clear without a facility hold.
Shipping runs from Shenzhen and Hong Kong ports. Air freight for samples and small runs takes 5-8 days to the US or EU. Sea freight for full pallets takes 25-40 days depending on destination. We prepare commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin and health certificates for customs. Halal certificates are issued per production run, not per year, so retailers receive current documentation.
Quality Control and Batch Documentation at a Custom Formula Supplement Manufacturer
Every raw material arrives with a supplier COA and is quarantined until our in-house laboratory confirms identity by FTIR or HPLC against a reference standard. We test potency for each active, microbial limits (total aerobic count, yeast and mould, E. coli, Salmonella), heavy metals by ICP-MS (lead, cadmium, arsenic, mercury) and, for tablets, disintegration time. Finished goods are tested again before release, and capsules are checked for fill weight uniformity across the run. No batch moves to packaging without a signed release.
The batch record captures the full production sequence: ingredient lot numbers, weigh-out sheets, blending times, machine settings, in-process checks and operator signatures. A certificate of analysis is issued for each batch and lists the tests performed, specification limits, results and the analytical method used. Where a customer needs a specific marker compound, we can add an assay to the standard panel. Retention samples from every batch are stored for two years under controlled conditions.
Stability follows a defined protocol: accelerated conditions at 40°C and 75% relative humidity for three and six months, with real-time data at 25°C and 60% relative humidity for products with a 24-month shelf life. We monitor potency, moisture, microbial status and appearance at each interval. If a formula drifts outside specification, we adjust the carrier or packaging before mass production. Stability data is shared with the customer and can support the expiry claim on the label.
For brands selling into regulated markets, the batch documentation package includes the executed batch record, COA, stability summary and a specification sheet. We do not issue certificates we do not hold, and we do not claim third-party accreditation for tests run in-house. Where a customer requires testing by an external accredited laboratory, we can arrange it and pass through the cost.
Packaging, Labelling and Retail Readiness
We fill high-density polyethylene bottles from 60 cc to 500 cc, with induction seals, pressure-sensitive liners and child-resistant closures where required. Blister packs are available in PVC/PVDC and alu-alu for moisture-sensitive tablets. Powders go into stick packs, sachets or wide-mouth jars, and gummies into bottles or pouches. Label application is inline, with lot number and expiry date inkjet-coded on the bottle, carton and, where specified, the label itself.
For the US market, we build labels to the FDA dietary supplement requirements: statement of identity, net quantity, supplement facts panel with percent daily values, ingredient list in descending order of weight, allergen declaration, and the manufacturer or distributor address with a lot code. We do not write the label copy for you, but we check that the mandatory elements are present before printing. For the EU, we follow the Food Supplements Directive labelling rules, including the recommended daily portion and a warning not to exceed it.
Cartons are specified by board grade, print method and pallet pattern. A standard export carton holds 12 to 48 bottles depending on size, with a gross weight typically under 15 kg for manual handling. Pallets are 1,200 by 1,000 mm or 1,200 by 800 mm, stretch-wrapped and corner-boarded, with a maximum height of 1.8 m for sea freight. We can print and apply Amazon FNSKU labels, poly-bag units for retail-ready delivery and apply suffocation warnings where the marketplace requires them.
Before mass production, we send a packaging specification sheet showing bottle dimensions, closure type, label size and carton configuration. The customer approves a physical or digital proof. We keep a packaging component sample from each order so that a reorder matches the original. If you supply your own bottles or labels, we will run a line trial to confirm the fill and capping settings before committing to the full batch.
MOQ, Lead Times and Delivery from a Custom Formula Supplement Manufacturer
Sampling starts with a formula brief and a target dose. We produce a pilot batch of 500 to 1,000 units, which typically takes 7 to 10 working days after formula agreement and receipt of raw materials. The sample is sent with a draft COA and a label proof. If the sample needs adjustment, one revision round is included; further rounds are quoted separately. Sample cost is credited against the first mass-production order at the agreed MOQ.
Mass production runs 20 to 35 working days after sample approval, depending on dosage form and packaging complexity. Capsules and tablets are faster than gummies, which need setting and curing time. The production window starts when we receive the purchase order, the deposit and approved artwork. We confirm the ship date in writing and provide a production schedule with the order confirmation. Delays caused by late artwork or raw material shortages are notified within 48 hours.
We ship by air for pilot and launch orders, typically 5 to 8 days door to door, and by sea for full-container orders, typically 25 to 35 days to US or EU ports. Incoterms offered are EXW, FOB Shenzhen or Hong Kong, and DDP for customers who want a landed cost. DDP includes freight, insurance, duties and customs clearance, with the duty rate confirmed before booking. We do not underdeclare value or split shipments to reduce duty.
The document pack for each shipment includes the commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading or airway bill, certificate of analysis, material safety data sheet where applicable, and a free-sale certificate. For plant-derived ingredients, a phytosanitary certificate can be arranged where the destination requires it. Halal certificates are provided for products made under those programmes. We send scanned copies before departure so the customer can clear customs without delay.

Questions buyers ask.
What is the minimum order for a custom formula supplement?+
MOQ is 1,000 units per SKU for retail bottling. Pilot runs below that are possible for market testing, with higher per-unit cost. Tooling for custom bottle shapes or stick pack sizes may add a one-time charge.
How long does sampling take?+
Sample production takes 7-10 working days after formula approval. Shipping adds 5-8 days by air to the US or EU. You receive physical samples, a specification sheet and a certificate of analysis before committing to a full run.
Do you supply halal certified supplements?+
Yes. Halal certificates are issued per production run. For halal projects, gelatin capsules are replaced with HPMC or halal-certified gelatin. runs use dedicated equipment and certified excipients. Certificates are provided with the shipping documents.
Can you match an existing product I already sell?+
Yes. Send the label and a sample if available. We reverse-engineer the formula, confirm dosages and produce a matched sample. You approve the match before mass production. This is common for brands moving production from another supplier.
What certifications does the facility hold?+
The plant holds GMP, ISO 22000 and HACCP. Halal and vegan certifications are available depending on the project. The facility is FDA-registered for US-bound shipments. We do not claim FDA approval of any product or formula.
Can you produce a supplement with a formula I own and keep it confidential?+
Yes. We sign a mutual non-disclosure agreement before discussing your formula. Your formula is coded in our system, and the batch record uses that code rather than the ingredient breakdown. We do not share your formula or specification with other customers, and we do not offer your exact formula as a stock product. If you later move production, we return your documents on request.
What is the shelf life of your supplements, and who sets the expiry date?+
Shelf life is set by the stability protocol for each formula and packaging combination. Most capsule and tablet products carry 24 months from the date of manufacture, and gummies typically 18 months. The expiry date is printed at packaging based on the batch manufacture date and the validated shelf life. We do not extend the date beyond the stability data we hold for that formula.
Do you handle customs clearance and import duties for DDP shipments?+
For DDP shipments, we arrange freight, insurance, export clearance, import clearance and payment of duties and taxes to the named destination. The duty rate is confirmed before booking, and the landed cost is stated in the quotation. DDP is available for the US, EU, UK, Canada and Australia. The customer remains the importer of record for product compliance purposes.
