Melatonin Oral Spray Manufacturer for Private Label Brands
EUPHM produces melatonin oral sprays in a GMP-certified facility in Guangdong. MOQ from 1,000 units, sample lead time 7–10 working days, mass production 20–35 working days. Flavours, strengths and packaging tailored to your market.
Overview
Oral sprays deliver melatonin in a metered dose without water, which suits travel, shift work and bedside use. As a contract manufacturer, EUPHM handles formulation, filling, labelling and QC for brands in the US, EU, UK and Middle East. Typical strengths run 0.5 mg to 5 mg per spray, with peppermint, berry or unflavoured bases. Pilot runs start below standard MOQ to validate the product before scale-up.

Spray Filling Capability and Line Capacity
EUPHM runs dedicated oral spray lines with metered pump fillers, not repurposed liquid lines. Each unit is filled to a target volume between 10 ml and 30 ml, then crimped or screw-capped depending on the pump system. Fill accuracy is held to ±5% across the batch, which matters for melatonin because dose consistency is the product. Line capacity supports runs from 1,000 units up to several hundred thousand units per SKU without changing the fill principle.
Pump and actuator options include standard mist, fine mist and dose-lock actuators. We stock bottles in amber PET, clear PET and glass, with child-resistant closures available. Labelling supports US supplement facts, EU nutrition declarations and Arabic-language artwork for Middle East markets. If your brand needs a specific spray angle or a softer mist for sublingual use, we can source and qualify the actuator during sampling.
Melatonin Formulation: Strengths, Flavours, Stability
Melatonin is poorly water-soluble, so oral spray bases use a co-solvent system, typically water with glycerin, propylene glycol or ethanol, plus a preservative system. EUPHM formulates at 0.5 mg, 1 mg, 2 mg, 3 mg and 5 mg per spray. Higher strengths are possible but require a stability check. Flavour options include peppermint, wintergreen, berry, citrus and unflavoured. We can also add vitamin B6, L-theanine or chamomile, though each addition changes the stability profile and needs its own accelerated test.
Stability testing runs at 40°C/75% RH for 3 months accelerated and 25°C/60% RH for 12–24 months real-time. Spray pumps are tested for dose uniformity across the first, middle and last 10% of the bottle. Preservative efficacy testing follows USP <51> or EP 5.1.3. For EU and UK markets, melatonin is regulated as a food supplement in most member states, so we build the formulation to fit food supplement rules, not pharmaceutical ones. This keeps your compliance path simpler.
Quality, Compliance and Export Logistics
EUPHM operates a GMP-certified, FDA-registered facility with ISO 22000 and HACCP systems. Each batch of melatonin oral spray is tested for assay, fill volume, pH, microbial limits and dose uniformity before release. Certificates of analysis are issued per batch. Halal certification is available on request, and vegan capsules or sprays are supported where the formula allows. Organic certification can be arranged if your melatonin and excipients come from certified organic supply.
Export documentation covers US, EU, UK and Middle East requirements. We provide commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, health certificates and halal certificates where applicable. Shipping is typically by air for pilot runs and by sea for full containers. Lead time from purchase order to ex-works is 20–35 working days after sample approval, plus transit. We can hold stock for scheduled releases if your retail launch is phased.
Quality Control and Batch Documentation
Every melatonin oral spray batch is tested at three stages: incoming raw material, bulk solution before filling, and finished product. Identity and potency of melatonin are confirmed by HPLC against a reference standard, with acceptance at 95.0–105.0% of label claim. Microbial testing covers total aerobic count, yeast and mould, E. coli and Salmonella, with limits set to the relevant pharmacopoeial or supplement standard. Heavy metals (lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury) are screened by ICP-MS. Because oral spray is a liquid, disintegration testing does not apply; instead we verify spray uniformity and dose reproducibility across the first, middle and last actuations of the batch.
A certificate of analysis (COA) is issued per batch and includes the product name, lot number, manufacturing date, expiry date, fill volume, dose per spray, assay result, microbial results, heavy metals, appearance, odour, pH and packaging configuration. Where a customer requires it, we add spray pattern and particle size distribution data. The COA is signed by the QC manager and references the specification number and test methods used. We do not release a batch until all results are within specification; out-of-specification results trigger a documented investigation before any re-test or rejection.
Retention samples are held for the shelf life of the product plus six months, stored under labelled conditions at 25°C/60% RH and, where relevant, 30°C/65% RH. Stability protocols follow ICH Q1A(R2) principles adapted for dietary supplements: initial, 3, 6, 9, 12, 18 and 24-month time points, with accelerated conditions at 40°C/75% RH for six months. Parameters monitored include melatonin assay, pH, microbial count, appearance and spray performance. Customers receive stability summaries at each milestone and can request real-time data for their registration files.
Batch records are retained for five years and include line clearance records, fill weight checks every 30 minutes, environmental monitoring of the filling room (temperature, humidity, pressure differential) and operator training records. If a customer needs a batch-specific declaration for a retailer or notified body, we prepare it within three working days. We do not issue certificates we have not earned; the documentation reflects the actual tests performed on the lot.
Packaging, Labelling and Retail Readiness
Melatonin oral spray is typically filled into 10 ml, 15 ml, 20 ml or 30 ml PET or glass bottles with a metered pump and a tamper-evident overcap. We also supply stick packs (2–5 ml) and single-use sachets for travel formats. Pump options include 0.05 ml, 0.10 ml and 0.13 ml per actuation, which determines the number of doses per bottle. For example, a 15 ml bottle with a 0.10 ml pump delivers approximately 150 sprays. Bottle, pump and cap components are available in stock or custom colours, with lead times of 15–25 days for custom moulds.
For the US market, labels must include the supplement facts panel, serving size (number of sprays), amount per serving, other ingredients, and the mandatory allergen and 'keep out of reach of children' statements. We can format the supplement facts panel from your formula and verify that the melatonin quantity per spray matches the batch record. For the EU and UK, we support the nutrition declaration, botanical or nutrient claims permitted under local rules, and the address of the food business operator. We do not draft claims; the brand owner remains responsible for claim substantiation.
Lot and expiry coding is applied by inkjet or laser on the bottle base, carton and, where required, the shrink sleeve. Format is flexible: Julian date, DD/MM/YYYY or a customer-specified code. Cartons are printed with the lot, expiry, barcode (EAN-13 or UPC-A) and, for Amazon sellers, the FNSKU label can be applied on the carton or poly bag. We can also apply suffocation warning labels and poly-bag the unit if the retail channel requires it. Carton dimensions and pallet configurations are agreed before production; a standard export pallet holds 48–60 cartons, shrink-wrapped and strapped.
Retail readiness checks include barcode verification (ISO/IEC 15416 grade B or better), label artwork proof against the approved version, and a pre-shipment inspection of 80 units per lot for fill volume, spray function, label placement and carton print quality. If you sell on Amazon, we can pack to FBA requirements, including box weight limits and labelling, but we do not create the Amazon shipment plan. Any marketplace-specific compliance, such as a safety data sheet upload, remains with the seller.
MOQ, Lead Times and Delivery
Sampling starts with a formulation brief and a target dose per spray. We provide a quotation within two working days and, once approved, produce samples in 7–10 working days. Sample quantities are typically 10–30 units and are charged at a sample fee, which is credited against the first mass-production order. Sample approval includes a signed specification sheet and a label proof. If the sample requires a formulation change, the clock resets; we do not begin production on an unapproved sample.
Mass production runs 20–35 working days after sample approval and receipt of packaging components. This window covers bulk preparation, filling, labelling, carton packing, QC testing and release. If custom bottles or pumps are required, add 15–25 days for tooling and component delivery. We schedule production in two-week blocks and confirm the ship date in the proforma invoice. Delays caused by missing artwork or late component approval are not counted in the production window.
For delivery, we offer EXW, FOB Shenzhen or Hong Kong, and DDP for selected destinations. Air freight takes 5–10 days door to door and suits pilot runs or urgent replenishment; sea freight takes 25–40 days port to port and is more economical above 500 kg. We provide a commercial invoice, packing list, COA, MSDS, free-sale certificate and, where applicable, a phytosanitary certificate for plant-derived components. We do not arrange import licences or customs clearance in the destination country; that responsibility sits with the buyer or their freight forwarder.
Payment terms are 30% deposit with the balance against the bill of lading, or a letter of credit for orders above USD 50,000. For repeat orders, we hold the approved artwork and component specifications for 24 months, which shortens the next production cycle by about five working days. We recommend booking a production slot at least six weeks before your retail launch to allow for freight and customs clearance.
Manufacturing Options to Compare
Pump and actuator types
Standard mist, fine mist and dose-lock actuators. Child-resistant closures available. Actuator selection affects spray angle and perceived dose, so we qualify it at sample stage.
Bottle sizes and materials
10 ml, 15 ml, 20 ml and 30 ml. Amber PET, clear PET and glass. Amber PET is the most common for melatonin because it limits light exposure without glass breakage risk.
Flavour and sweetener systems
Peppermint, wintergreen, berry, citrus or unflavoured. Sweetened with stevia, sucralose or glycerin. Flavour load is kept low to avoid masking the melatonin base.
Additional actives
Vitamin B6, L-theanine, chamomile, lemon balm or magnesium. Each addition requires a separate stability check and may raise MOQ to 5,000 units per SKU.

Why EUPHM
Low MOQ for pilot runs
Start at 1,000 units per SKU, with lower pilot runs to test the market. Scale to full production once the formula and packaging are proven.
Dose consistency you can label
Metered pumps and ±5% fill accuracy mean the label claim matches the spray. Batch testing covers assay and dose uniformity, not just fill volume.
Export-ready documentation
US, EU, UK and Middle East paperwork handled in-house. Halal and organic certificates arranged when your market requires them.
Questions buyers ask.
What is the MOQ for melatonin oral spray?+
Standard MOQ is 1,000 units per SKU for retail bottling. Pilot runs can go lower, typically 1,000 units, so you can validate the product before committing to a full batch. MOQ depends on bottle size, actuator type and whether custom flavours or additional actives are required.
How long does sampling and production take?+
Sample lead time is 7–10 working days from brief confirmation. Mass production runs 20–35 working days after sample approval, depending on order volume and packaging availability. Shipping transit is additional. We provide a production schedule with the proforma invoice so you can plan your retail launch.
Can you make a 5 mg melatonin spray?+
Yes. We formulate at 0.5 mg, 1 mg, 2 mg, 3 mg and 5 mg per spray. Higher strengths are possible but require a solubility and stability check because melatonin is poorly water-soluble. The co-solvent system and preservative are adjusted to keep the spray clear and dose-consistent over shelf life.
Is melatonin oral spray a supplement or a drug?+
In the US, melatonin is sold as a dietary supplement. In the EU and UK, it is regulated as a food supplement in most member states. EUPHM formulates to food supplement rules, which keeps your compliance path simpler. We do not make drug claims and do not claim FDA approval. Our facility is FDA-registered.
What certifications do you hold?+
EUPHM holds GMP, ISO 22000 and HACCP certifications. Halal, vegan and organic options are available depending on the formula and ingredient sourcing. Certificates are provided with the relevant batches. We can also support customer audits and provide documentation for your own regulatory filings.
Can you provide a stability study for my melatonin oral spray formula?+
Yes. We run a real-time stability protocol at 25°C/60% RH and 30°C/65% RH for up to 24 months, with interim reports at 3, 6, 9 and 12 months. Accelerated testing at 40°C/75% RH runs for six months. The study covers assay, pH, microbial count, appearance and spray performance. You receive a summary report at each milestone, and the full data package can be included in your product registration file.
What label artwork files do you need, and who is responsible for compliance?+
We need a print-ready PDF or AI file with 3 mm bleed, CMYK colour and outlined fonts. We check that the supplement facts panel or nutrition declaration matches the approved formula, and we verify barcode grade. However, the brand owner is responsible for the accuracy of claims, allergen statements and market-specific wording. We can provide a label checklist for the US, EU, UK and Gulf markets, but we do not act as your regulatory consultant.
Do you offer DDP shipping, and what documents are included?+
We offer DDP for selected destinations, with the freight and import duties quoted separately. The document pack includes commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of analysis, material safety data sheet, free-sale certificate and, where relevant, phytosanitary certificate. We do not provide import licences or customs brokerage in the destination country. For DDP, we use a nominated forwarder and confirm the landed cost before production begins.
