Overview
As a maca capsule manufacturer, EUPHM produces root-based supplements for brands in the US, EU, UK, and Middle East. We work with yellow, red, and black maca in gelatinized or raw form. Capsules are filled on automatic lines with fill weights from 400 mg to 800 mg. Every batch is tested for heavy metals, microbials, and pesticide residues before release. Certifications include GMP, ISO 22000, HACCP, plus halal, and organic on request. This page sits under our broader capsule manufacturing services.

Maca Sourcing and Capsule Production Capacity
We source maca root from Peruvian growers in Junín and Pasco regions. Yellow, red, and black maca are available. Gelatinized maca undergoes a pressurized heating process that removes starch and concentrates active compounds. Raw maca is milled and dried at low temperatures. Both forms are tested for macamides and macaenes before blending. Our automatic capsule filling lines run at 60,000–80,000 capsules per hour. We can produce 500,000 capsules per day across two shifts. That capacity supports orders from 1,000 units to full container loads.
Capsule filling tolerances are held within ±3% of target fill weight. We use HPMC capsules for vegan and halal markets, and gelatin capsules where cost is the priority. Pullulan capsules are available for clean-label positioning. Each batch is blended in a 500 kg ribbon blender, then filled and polished. In-process checks occur every 30 minutes for weight variation and lock length. The plant runs 5 days per week, with overtime available for seasonal demand. Lead time for mass production is 20–35 working days after you approve the sample.
Formulation Options for Maca Capsules
Maca works as a single-ingredient capsule or in blends. Common combinations include maca with ashwagandha, ginseng, tribulus, or zinc. We can add magnesium stearate or silicon dioxide as flow agents, or use a clean-label formula with none. Excipient-free options are possible if the maca extract has good flow properties. For gelatinized maca, the typical dose is 500 mg to 1,000 mg per capsule. Raw maca often requires 750 mg to 1,000 mg due to lower concentration. We can also standardize macamides to 0.5%, 1%, or 2% for consistent potency.
Capsule size selection depends on fill weight. Size 0 holds up to 500 mg of maca powder. Size 00 holds up to 750 mg. Size 000 holds up to 1,000 mg. We stock all three in HPMC and gelatin. For retail bottling, we offer 60, 90, 120, and 180 count bottles. Bottles can be amber PET, white HDPE, or glass. Induction seals, child-resistant caps, and desiccant packs are available. Labels can be printed with your artwork or we can provide plain stock for local labelling. We also offer stick packs and sachets if you want a powder format.
Quality Control and Compliance
Every incoming maca lot is tested for heavy metals (lead, cadmium, arsenic, mercury), microbials (total plate count, yeast, mould, E. coli, Salmonella), and pesticide residues. We also screen for adulteration with other root powders using HPLC fingerprints. Finished capsules are tested for disintegration, weight variation, and fill weight. Certificates of analysis are issued per batch. Our facility is GMP-certified and holds ISO 22000 and HACCP. We are FDA-registered as a facility, not FDA-approved. For halal claims, we source capsules and excipients from certified suppliers.
Documentation for export includes certificate of origin, health certificate, and free sale certificate. We handle shipping from Shenzhen and Hong Kong ports. Air freight is available for urgent orders. Typical transit times: 12–18 days to US West Coast, 25–35 days to EU, 8–12 days to Middle East. We provide full traceability from maca farm to finished bottle. Retain samples are kept for 24 months. If you need third-party testing at Eurofins or SGS, we can arrange it at cost. Stability studies are available for 24-month shelf life claims.
Batch Testing, COAs and Retention Samples
Every maca capsule batch is sampled at three points: incoming root powder, blended pre-capsule mix, and finished capsules. Identity testing uses macroscopic and organoleptic checks plus HPLC fingerprinting against a retained reference standard. Potency is verified for macamide and macaene content where a specification is agreed; otherwise the COA reports the assay method and result. Microbial testing covers total aerobic count, yeast and mould, E. coli, Salmonella, and Staphylococcus aureus. Heavy metals are tested for lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury against EU and US limits.
Disintegration testing follows USP <701> or Ph. Eur. 2.9.1, with typical results of 8 to 15 minutes for HPMC capsules and 5 to 10 minutes for gelatin. Each batch has a retained sample of at least twice the quantity needed for full testing, stored under controlled conditions for 24 months from the expiry date. Stability follows a bracketed protocol at 25°C/60% RH and 40°C/75% RH, with checkpoints at 0, 3, 6, 12, 18, and 24 months. Accelerated data supports a 24-month shelf life where real-time data is still in progress.
The certificate of analysis issued with each batch lists the product name, capsule fill weight, batch number, production date, expiry date, and the specification for each test. It reports the result, the method used, and the acceptance criteria, and is signed by the QC manager. Where a customer requires it, we provide a certificate of origin and a statement of allergen status. Documentation is issued in English as standard; other languages are available on request. Batch records are retained for five years.
Packaging, Labelling and Retail Readiness
Maca capsules can be packed in HDPE bottles from 60 cc to 250 cc, in blisters of 10 to 30 capsules, in single-serve stick packs, or in sachets for sample and travel formats. Bottles are induction-sealed and can include a desiccant or oxygen absorber where the formula requires it. Standard cartons are printed with lot number and expiry date using inkjet or laser coding; we can also apply QR codes linked to the batch COA. Carton specifications follow FEFCO 0201 or 0713, with pallet configurations of 1,200 to 2,400 bottles per pallet depending on bottle size.
For US retail, labels must include the statement of identity, net quantity, supplement facts panel, other ingredients, directions for use, and the manufacturer or distributor address. We check that the label includes the mandatory 'Keep out of reach of children' statement and allergen declarations where applicable. For EU and UK markets, we align labels with the Food Supplements Directive and retain the notification details where the brand has registered the product. Amazon sellers can supply FNSKU labels and poly-bagged units; we apply them at the packing stage.
We do not design labels in-house, but we review print-ready artwork for legibility, barcode placement, and mandatory elements before printing. Bottle and carton dimensions are confirmed with a physical or digital proof. Retail-ready packaging can include shrink-wrapped trays and shelf-ready display cases. Lead time for printed packaging is typically 10 to 15 working days from artwork approval, and packaging is ordered against the confirmed batch quantity to avoid overruns.
MOQ, Lead Times and Delivery
Sample orders for maca capsules are typically 7 to 10 working days from receipt of the specification and packaging choice. Samples are supplied with a draft COA and a label mock-up. Pilot runs of 1,000 to 2,000 units are available for brands testing a market before committing to a full SKU. Mass production runs 20 to 35 working days after sample approval, depending on capsule type, packaging format, and whether organic certification is required. Repeat orders with unchanged specifications usually fall at the lower end of that window.
We ship under EXW, FOB Shenzhen or Hong Kong, and DDP for selected destinations. Air freight is used for samples and urgent orders, typically 3 to 7 days door to door. Sea freight is used for full pallets and takes 25 to 40 days depending on the destination port. For DDP shipments we handle customs clearance and import duties where the destination allows; the buyer remains responsible for product registration and market-specific labelling compliance.
Each shipment is accompanied by a certificate of analysis, a material safety data sheet where required, and a free-sale certificate for markets that request one. For plant-based ingredients, a phytosanitary certificate can be arranged where the importing country requires it. Commercial invoice, packing list, and bill of lading are issued in the company name provided by the buyer. We recommend confirming the destination's import requirements before production, as some markets require pre-market notification or additional testing.
