Overview
Sourcing mushroom extract capsules means matching potency, capsule format, and compliance to your market. This page covers what we make, how we formulate, and how we ship. For the broader capsule manufacturing programme, including hard-shell, softgel, and vegetarian formats, see our capsule manufacturer page. Every batch is produced in our Guangdong facility under GMP, ISO 22000, and HACCP, with halal and vegan options available on request.

Capsule Production Capacity and Formats
Our encapsulation lines run HPMC vegetarian, gelatin, and pullulan capsules in sizes 0, 00, and 0E. Typical fill weights for mushroom extracts sit between 250 mg and 800 mg per capsule, depending on extract ratio and carrier. We handle 100% extract fills as well as blends with mycelium, vitamin C, or black pepper extract for absorption. Line capacity supports runs from pilot batches up to 500,000 units monthly.
Mushroom extracts are hygroscopic and often sticky. We control this with low-humidity rooms, controlled fill speeds, and capsule polishing. If your formula clumps at 30% extract, we adjust carriers or switch to a denser extract grade. That is why we ask for your target actives—beta-glucans, triterpenes, or eritadenine—before we quote. It keeps the first sample close to the final product.
Formulation and Ingredient Sourcing
We source from approved suppliers in China, the US, and Europe. Common inputs include lion's mane, reishi, chaga, cordyceps, shiitake, maitake, and turkey tail. Extracts arrive as 4:1 to 20:1 powders, or standardised to 20–40% beta-glucans and 1–4% triterpenes. Organic-certified lots are available for USDA and EU organic claims. Each incoming lot is tested for identity, heavy metals, and microbial counts before release to production.
Formulation choices affect cost and label claims. A 500 mg lion's mane capsule at 8:1 extract uses less raw material than a 500 mg 20:1 extract, but the 20:1 version supports a stronger label story. We provide cost-per-capsule comparisons at 1,000, 10,000, and 50,000 units so you can see the trade-off. Vegan HPMC shells add 8–12% to capsule cost versus gelatin; organic extract adds 20–35% to raw material cost.
Quality Control, Documentation, and Shipping
Every batch is tested for identity, potency, heavy metals, microbial limits, and moisture. We issue a Certificate of Analysis with each shipment. Our facility is GMP-certified, ISO 22000, and HACCP-compliant. Halal certificates are available for specific lines. We are an FDA-registered facility for US-bound goods. Documentation packs include COA, MSDS, allergen statements, and origin certificates for customs clearance.
Shipping runs from Shenzhen and Hong Kong ports. Air freight to the US takes 5–8 days; sea freight takes 22–35 days. We ship DDP to US and EU addresses if you prefer. Bottles and labels can be sourced locally or supplied by you. For retail-ready packaging, we offer 30, 60, 90, and 120 count bottles with induction seals, child-resistant caps, and shrink bands. Lead time from PO to port is 20–35 working days.
Quality Control and Batch Documentation
Every mushroom extract capsule batch is sampled at three points: incoming raw material, in-process blend, and finished capsules. Identity testing uses HACCP-verified macroscopic and microscopic examination plus TLC fingerprinting against a retained reference. Potency is confirmed by HPLC or UV-Vis for beta-glucan and specific marker compounds such as cordycepin or hericenones, with results reported against the specification agreed at PO. Microbials (TPC, yeast and mould, E. coli, Salmonella), heavy metals (lead, cadmium, arsenic, mercury), and disintegration time are tested on the finished capsule. Disintegration is checked in purified water at 37°C, with a target of under 30 minutes for gelatin and under 45 minutes for HPMC.
A certificate of analysis (COA) is issued per batch and includes lot number, capsule size and shell type, fill weight range, identity and potency results, microbial and heavy metal results, disintegration time, and a statement of conformity. Where a client requires it, we add pesticide residue screening and residual solvent testing. COAs are available in PDF and can be linked to a QR code on the carton. We retain a minimum of two finished capsules per 1,000 produced, plus 200 g of each raw material lot, for 24 months from the date of manufacture.
Stability follows a bracketed protocol: accelerated at 40°C/75% RH for six months and real-time at 25°C/60% RH for up to 24 months. Testing intervals are 0, 3, 6, 9, 12, 18, and 24 months, covering potency, microbials, and disintegration. We provide a stability summary report suitable for inclusion in your product information file. For markets requiring it, we can run a full ICH-compliant stability study under a separate quotation. All QC records are retained for five years and are available for client audit by appointment.
Our Guangdong facility operates under GMP, ISO 22000, and HACCP. Environmental monitoring of the capsule filling room is conducted monthly for airborne particulates and surface microbials. Water used in extraction and cleaning is tested to drinking-water standards. If you need a pre-shipment sample pulled from the finished batch, we can arrange third-party testing at a laboratory of your choice, with results shared directly with you.
Packaging, Labelling and Retail Readiness
Mushroom extract capsules can be packed in HDPE bottles (60, 90, 120, or 180 count), blister packs (10 or 12 capsules per blister, up to 6 blisters per carton), stick packs (single-dose powder or capsule-in-stick), or sachets. Bottles are induction-sealed and fitted with a desiccant canister or silica gel sachet. We stock white and amber HDPE bottles in 100 cc, 150 cc, and 200 cc sizes. Blister material is PVC/PVDC or alu-alu for moisture-sensitive extracts. Cartons are printed to your artwork with lot number and expiry date applied by inkjet or laser coding.
For US-bound products, we support FDA dietary-supplement label elements: statement of identity, net quantity, supplement facts panel, other ingredients, suggested use, and the mandatory disclaimer. We do not write your label copy, but we check that the supplement facts panel matches the formula and fill weight. For EU markets, we can format the nutrition declaration and allergen statement. Lot and expiry coding follows your specified format, typically YYYYMMDD or DDMMYY, printed on the bottle, carton, and shipper. We retain a label proof approved by you before printing.
Shipper cartons are 5-ply corrugated, with a maximum gross weight of 20 kg for manual handling. Palletisation is 1,200 x 1,000 mm or 1,200 x 800 mm, stretch-wrapped and corner-boarded, with a maximum height of 1.8 m. We can apply Amazon FNSKU labels, polybag the bottles, and print the FBA box ID on the carton. For retail chains, we can add a GS1-128 pallet label and a packing list inside the container. All packaging materials are food-grade and meet EU 10/2011 and US FDA 21 CFR 174-190 where applicable.
MOQ, Lead Times and Delivery
Samples for mushroom extract capsules are prepared in 7 to 10 working days after we receive your specification and, where required, a signed sample agreement. Sample quantities are typically 50 to 100 capsules in a plain bottle, with a draft COA. If you need a custom label on the sample, add 3 working days. Sample cost is credited against the first mass-production order. We do not charge for standard formulation advice, but custom extraction or blending may carry a development fee, quoted in advance.
Mass production runs 20 to 35 working days after PO and deposit, depending on capsule size, shell type, and packaging complexity. A 10,000-capsule order in stock bottles typically ships in 20 working days. Orders above 500,000 capsules are scheduled in weekly lots to match your forecast. We provide a production schedule at PO and a pre-shipment notification with photos and the final COA. If you need a pre-shipment inspection, we can accommodate third-party inspectors with two working days' notice.
We ship under EXW, FOB Shenzhen or Hong Kong, and DDP for most destinations. Air freight is 5 to 8 days door-to-door for urgent orders; sea freight is 25 to 40 days depending on port. For DDP, we handle customs clearance and duties, and provide a delivered price per unit. Documents provided with every shipment include COA, MSDS, packing list, commercial invoice, and a free-sale certificate. For plant-derived materials, we can arrange a phytosanitary certificate where the destination requires it. All documents are issued in English and can be legalised or apostilled on request.
