EUPHM operates automatic capsule filling lines with a combined capacity of 120 million capsules per month. For MSM, we run powder filling with tamping stations to achieve consistent fill weights within ±3% of target. Typical MSM capsule specifications range from 300 mg to 1,200 mg. We can produce single-ingredient MSM capsules or combine MSM with glucosamine, chondroitin, turmeric, vitamin C or boswellia in the same fill.

Our encapsulation suite handles both gelatin and HPMC (vegetarian) shells. We stock size 0, 00, 1 and 2 shells in both materials. Changeover between SKUs takes 4–6 hours, which keeps small batch runs economical. If your formula requires a specific bulk density or particle size, we can request a custom MSM grade from our raw material suppliers. All filling parameters are documented in the batch record.

MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) is a white, crystalline powder with a slight sulfurous odour. It is highly water-soluble and flows reasonably well, but it is hygroscopic. In high humidity, MSM powder can clump and stick to capsule tooling. We control the production room at 45–55% relative humidity and use dehumidified air in the filling zone. For capsules above 800 mg, we often add 1–2% silicon dioxide or magnesium stearate as a flow agent, depending on your label requirements.

We source MSM from suppliers who provide a certificate of analysis for each lot. Typical purity is 99.5% minimum. If you need organic-certified MSM, we can source it, but lead times extend by 10–15 days and MOQ increases to 5,000 units. We also offer clean-label options: no magnesium stearate, no silicon dioxide, using rice hull concentrate or acacia fibre instead. Vegetarian capsules use HPMC shells with no animal derivatives.

EUPHM is an FDA-registered facility and holds GMP, ISO 22000 and HACCP certifications. We can provide halal and vegan certificates for the relevant production runs. Every batch of MSM capsules is tested for identity, assay, fill weight, disintegration and microbial limits. We retain samples for 24 months. Documentation includes certificate of analysis, certificate of origin, MSDS and full batch records. Third-party testing at Eurofins or SGS is available at cost.

For logistics, we ship from Shenzhen or Hong Kong ports. Air freight to the US or EU takes 5–8 days; sea freight takes 25–35 days. We handle export documentation, including commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading and certificate of origin. MOQ for retail bottling is 1,000 units per SKU. For pilot runs, we can produce 1,000 units at a higher per-unit cost. Lead time for mass production is 20–35 working days after sample approval and receipt of deposit.

Every MSM capsule batch is tested at three points: incoming raw material, in-process fill weight checks, and finished product release. Raw MSM is assayed for identity and potency by HPLC or titration, with a minimum specification of 99.0% methylsulfonylmethane. Microbial testing covers total aerobic count, yeast and mould, E. coli and Salmonella. Heavy metals (lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury) are screened against USP <232> limits. Each incoming lot is quarantined until these results are approved.

During encapsulation, fill weight is checked every 15 minutes against a target range of ±5%. Disintegration testing follows USP <701> on the finished capsule, with a typical result of under 15 minutes for gelatin and under 30 minutes for HPMC shells. Moisture content is kept below 5% to protect the shell and the hygroscopic MSM fill. Any deviation triggers a hold and a documented investigation before the batch proceeds.

The certificate of analysis (COA) issued with each batch lists the product name, lot number, manufacture and expiry dates, and test results against specification. It includes the specification range, the result, the test method and a pass/fail statement. A retention sample of at least twice the quantity needed for full testing is kept for the shelf life plus six months. Stability is monitored at 25°C/60% RH and 30°C/65% RH, with testing at 0, 3, 6, 12, 18 and 24 months to support a two-year shelf life claim.

MSM capsules can be packed in high-density polyethylene (HDPE) bottles from 60 cc to 500 cc, with induction seals and child-resistant or standard caps. Blister packs are available in PVC/PVDC or aluminium-aluminium formats for pharmacy and export markets. For single-serve formats, stick packs and sachets can hold 2 to 5 capsules with nitrogen flushing. Bottle labels are applied at 120 to 200 units per minute, with lot and expiry codes inkjet-printed or laser-etched on the label and the bottle base.

For the US market, the label must carry a Supplement Facts panel with serving size, nutrients, % Daily Value where applicable, and the full ingredient list. Other required elements include the statement of identity, net quantity, directions for use, the manufacturer or distributor name and address, and an allergen declaration if applicable. We can print FDA-compliant labels from your artwork or provide a label review against 21 CFR 101 before production.

Cartons are typically 5-ply corrugated with a maximum gross weight of 20 kg. Bottles are shrink-wrapped in trays of 12 or 24, and pallets are configured to 1,200 x 1,000 mm or 1,200 x 800 mm with a maximum height of 1,800 mm including the pallet. For Amazon FBA, we can apply FNSKU labels, poly-bag units and print box dimensions on the carton. Retail compliance for the EU requires the food supplement logo, a 'do not exceed stated dose' warning, and a best-before date on the base.

Sample orders for MSM capsules start at 500 to 1,000 units per SKU and ship in 7 to 10 working days after artwork and specification approval. Mass production runs from 20 to 35 working days after sample sign-off, depending on capsule size, packaging format and whether the shell is gelatin or HPMC. A 5,000-unit order in size 0 HPMC typically completes in 25 working days. Larger orders above 50,000 units are scheduled in weekly batches to keep the pipeline moving.

Air freight is used for samples and urgent orders, with a transit time of 3 to 7 days to major hubs in Europe and North America. Sea freight takes 25 to 40 days port to port, depending on the destination and routing. We quote EXW, FOB Shenzhen or Hong Kong, and DDP for select markets. DDP pricing includes duties and customs clearance, which simplifies landed cost calculation for first-time importers.

Each shipment is accompanied by a batch-specific COA, a material safety data sheet (MSDS) for the finished capsules, and a free-sale certificate where required by the destination country. A phytosanitary certificate is not normally applicable to MSM capsules because the ingredient is synthetic, but we can supply a certificate of origin and a non-GMO statement. Shipping documents include the commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading or airway bill, and fumigation certificate for wooden pallets where required.
