Maca Powder Manufacturer for Bulk Supplement Production
EUPHM produces maca root powder in gelatinised and raw forms for capsules, stick packs and retail tubs. We hold GMP, ISO 22000, HACCP, halal certifications. MOQ starts at 1,000 units per SKU, with pilot runs from 500 units.

Overview
Sourcing maca powder means matching the right root form to your dosage and label claims. Peruvian maca comes in yellow, red and black varieties, each with different colour and glucosinolate profiles. Raw maca needs cooking before use; gelatinised maca is pre-cooked for easier digestion and higher concentration. This page covers the specifications, lead times and compliance documents you need to brief a supplier accurately. For our full powder manufacturing range, see our powder manufacturing capabilities.

Maca Powder Production Capability
Our Guangdong facility runs dedicated powder filling lines for maca and other root powders. We handle raw material intake, milling to 80-100 mesh, blending with excipients if needed, and filling into tubs, stick packs or capsules. Each line runs at 12,000 units per day for retail tubs and 40,000 stick packs per day. We work with gelatinised maca powder at 0.6-0.8 g/mL bulk density and raw maca at 0.5-0.7 g/mL. Both are available as conventional or organic certified.
For capsule formats, we fill maca powder into HPMC or gelatin capsules at 500mg or 600mg. Stick packs run from 5g to 15g. We can blend maca with other ingredients such as ashwagandha, cacao or collagen, provided the blend stays within our allergen and segregation controls. Changeover between maca and non-maca runs takes 4 hours, including full equipment teardown and swab testing. This protects against cross-contact for allergen-sensitive markets.
Maca Forms, Colours and Formulation
Maca root comes in three main colour varieties: yellow, red and black. Yellow maca is the most common and has a mild, earthy taste. Red and black maca are lower volume and often used in premium SKUs. We source from Peruvian growers and can provide variety-specific documentation. Gelatinised maca is cooked under pressure to remove starch, which increases concentration by roughly 4:1 versus raw. It mixes more easily into water and has a milder flavour. Raw maca retains its natural starch and needs blending with a carrier or cooking instruction on the label.
Formulation matters for taste and flow. Maca powder is hygroscopic and can clump in humid conditions. We add 1-2% silicon dioxide or tricalcium phosphate as an anti-caking agent when the brief allows. For flavoured stick packs, we blend maca with natural flavours, stevia or monk fruit, and citric acid for tartness. Typical inclusion rates are 20-40% maca in a flavoured blend. We run a 5kg pilot batch to confirm taste, texture and fill accuracy before scaling to production.
Quality Testing and Export Documentation
Every maca lot is tested for identity, heavy metals (lead, cadmium, arsenic, mercury), microbial limits (total plate count, yeast, mould, E. coli, Salmonella), and pesticide residues. We follow EU and US pharmacopoeia methods where applicable. Certificates of analysis are issued per batch and include the test method and specification range. We retain samples for 24 months. Our facility is FDA-registered and operates under GMP, ISO 22000 and HACCP. Halal certificates are available for maca powder and finished goods.
For export, we provide commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, health certificate, and organic certificate if applicable. We ship FOB Shenzhen or Yantian, with air freight for samples and urgent orders. Lead time for mass production is 20-35 working days after sample approval and receipt of deposit. We handle documentation for US, EU, UK and Middle East markets. For full powder manufacturing details, visit our powder manufacturer page.
Quality Control and Batch Documentation
Every maca powder batch is sampled at three points: incoming raw root, in-process milling, and finished bulk powder before filling. Identity is confirmed by macroscopic and microscopic examination against a authenticated reference, with a minimum 500g retention sample sealed and stored for 24 months at ambient temperature. Potency testing covers glucosinolate content and, for gelatinised grades, the degree of gelatinisation by differential scanning calorimetry. Microbial testing includes total aerobic count, yeast and mould, E. coli, Salmonella and Staphylococcus aureus, with results released only when all parameters fall within the agreed specification.
Heavy metals are tested by ICP-MS for lead, arsenic, cadmium and mercury, with typical acceptance limits of 1.0 ppm lead, 0.5 ppm arsenic, 0.3 ppm cadmium and 0.1 ppm mercury, or tighter if your market requires. Pesticide screening follows a 200-plus analyte panel by GC-MS/MS and LC-MS/MS. Each batch receives a certificate of analysis listing the test parameters, methods, specifications, results and a pass or fail statement, signed by the QC manager. The COA is issued in PDF and can be pre-formatted to your brand template if you supply one at order confirmation.
Retention samples are kept for every batch in a dedicated climate-controlled cabinet at 25°C and 60% relative humidity, with a duplicate set at 40°C and 75% relative humidity for accelerated stability. The stability protocol runs at 0, 3, 6, 12, 18 and 24 months, tracking moisture, colour, microbial load and glucosinolate content. If a batch is later queried by a customer or regulator, the retained sample and the full batch record, including operator signatures and equipment logs, are retrievable within 24 hours. This record set supports traceability from raw root supplier through to finished carton.
For gelatinised maca powder, additional testing verifies the absence of raw starch by iodine staining and confirms the gelatinisation temperature profile. Disintegration testing applies only to capsule formats, where the specification is not more than 30 minutes in purified water at 37°C. Water activity is measured on every batch and must be below 0.6 to inhibit microbial growth during storage. These tests add roughly two working days to the release timeline but are included in the standard production window, not charged as an extra unless you request third-party verification.
Packaging, Labelling and Retail Readiness
Maca powder fills into high-density polyethylene tubs with induction-sealed foil liners, available in 100g, 250g and 500g, or into PET jars with screw caps for a premium shelf presence. Stick packs are produced on vertical form-fill-seal lines in 5g and 10g sizes, with a four-side seal and tear notch. Sachets for single-serve use are also available in aluminium-laminate for extended barrier. Capsules fill into HDPE bottles with child-resistant closures or into blister packs on request. All primary packaging is food-grade and supplied with a migration certificate where required.
For the US market, labels must include the statement of identity, net quantity in both metric and US customary units, ingredient list, allergen declaration, and a Supplement Facts panel with serving size, amounts per serving and percent daily value where applicable. The manufacturer statement must read 'Distributed by' or 'Manufactured for' followed by your business name and address, and a lot code and best-by date are inkjet-printed on the base or back panel. We can review your artwork against FDA 21 CFR 101 requirements before printing, but final label compliance remains the brand owner's responsibility.
Lot coding follows a seven-character alphanumeric format that encodes the production date and line number, and the same code appears on the tub, the carton and the shipping label for full traceability. Cartons are standard single-wall corrugated with a 12-unit count for 250g tubs, and pallets are 1,200 by 1,000mm, stretch-wrapped and corner-boarded, with a maximum height of 1,800mm including the pallet. We can print and apply Amazon FNSKU labels, poly-bag each unit for retail-ready presentation, and prepare carton-level GS1-128 labels if you ship to grocery or pharmacy chains.
Retail readiness checks include seal integrity testing by dye penetration on a 30-unit sample per batch, torque testing on screw caps, and a visual inspection for print registration and label placement. For Amazon sellers, we can pack to the FBA prep standard, including suffocation warning labels on poly bags with an opening of 5 inches or more, and we can bundle multi-packs with a printed sleeve. If you supply dielines or artwork files, we return a digital proof and a physical pre-production sample for sign-off before the full run begins.
MOQ, Lead Times and Delivery
The sample timeline begins with a brief covering your target form, fill weight, packaging and destination market. We dispatch stock samples of raw and gelatinised maca powder within 7 to 10 working days, and custom-blended or custom-packed samples take 12 to 15 working days because they require a short pilot run. Sample costs are credited against the first mass-production order. Mass production runs 20 to 35 working days after sample approval, depending on packaging complexity and whether the order includes printed labels or custom cartons.
The minimum order quantity is 1,000 units per SKU for retail-packed goods, with a 500-unit pilot run available for market testing. Bulk powder orders start at 25kg. For air freight, we consolidate to a maximum of 500kg per shipment to keep costs proportionate, with transit times of 5 to 8 days to major airports in Europe and North America. Sea freight moves in 20ft or 40ft containers, with transit times of 25 to 35 days to European ports and 18 to 28 days to US west coast ports, depending on routing and season.
We quote on EXW, FOB Shenzhen or Hong Kong, and DDP terms. DDP is available for most EU and US destinations and includes customs clearance and duty, which simplifies landed-cost calculation for new importers. Documents provided with every shipment include the commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading or air waybill, certificate of analysis, material safety data sheet, and a free-sale certificate. A phytosanitary certificate is issued where the destination country requires it for plant-derived powders, and a certificate of origin can be provided on request.
For repeat orders, we hold your approved artwork, packaging specifications and batch records on file, which reduces the production window to 18 to 25 working days. Shipping schedules are confirmed at order acceptance, and we provide a pre-shipment notification with photographs of the packed cartons and the container seal number. If your order is time-sensitive, air freight can be booked at the same time as production, with the shipment held at the forwarder until the COA is released, so the goods do not sit after release.

Questions buyers ask.
What is the MOQ for maca powder in retail tubs?+
MOQ is 1,000 units per SKU for retail tubs. For pilot runs, we can produce from 500 units. Stick packs and capsules have the same MOQ. Organic certified maca has a higher MOQ of 5,000 units because of separate handling and certification requirements.
What is the difference between raw and gelatinised maca?+
Raw maca is dried and milled without cooking. It contains natural starch and needs cooking or blending before consumption. Gelatinised maca is cooked under pressure to remove starch, which concentrates the root roughly 4:1. Gelatinised maca mixes more easily into water and has a milder taste. Both are available in yellow, red and black varieties.
How long does production take for a maca powder order?+
Sample lead time is 7-10 working days. Mass production takes 20-35 working days after sample approval and deposit. This covers milling, blending, filling, QC testing and packing. Shipping time depends on destination and freight method. Air freight for urgent orders is available.
What certifications can you provide for maca powder?+
We hold GMP, ISO 22000, HACCP, halal certifications. Organic certification is available for and EU organic. The facility is FDA-registered. Certificates of analysis are issued per batch for heavy metals, microbials and identity. We can provide certificates of origin and health certificates for export.
Can you blend maca with other ingredients?+
Yes. We blend maca with ashwagandha, cacao, collagen, adaptogens and natural flavours. Typical maca inclusion is 20-40% in a flavoured blend. We run a 5kg pilot batch to confirm taste and flow. Allergen segregation and swab testing are done between runs to prevent cross-contact.
What is the shelf life of maca powder and how should it be stored?+
Raw and gelatinised maca powder carry a shelf life of 24 months from the date of production when stored in unopened, intact packaging at temperatures below 25°C and relative humidity below 60%, away from direct sunlight. Once opened, the tub should be resealed and used within 90 days. We print the best-by date and lot code on every unit, and accelerated stability data at 40°C and 75% relative humidity support the 24-month claim.
Can you supply organic maca powder and what documentation is provided?+
Yes, organic maca powder is available subject to raw material availability. It is sourced from certified organic Peruvian suppliers and processed on a dedicated line or after a validated cleaning protocol to prevent cross-contact. Documentation includes the organic certificate for the raw material, a transaction certificate for the finished batch where your certification body requires it, and the standard COA. Allow an additional 10 to 15 working days for organic orders because of the extra supply chain verification.
Do you provide third-party laboratory testing on request?+
Yes. In addition to our in-house QC release, we can send samples to an accredited third-party laboratory such as Eurofins or SGS for independent verification of identity, heavy metals, pesticides or microbials. Third-party testing adds 7 to 10 working days and is quoted per batch based on the test panel. The resulting report is issued alongside our COA, and the third-party sample is drawn from the same batch as the retained sample for traceability.
