Halal Softgel Manufacturer for Supplement Brands
EUPHM produces halal-certified softgels in Guangdong, China. Gelatin shells from halal-certified bovine sources, full batch traceability, and documentation for US, EU, UK and Middle East retail. MOQ starts at 1,000 units per SKU.
Overview
Sourcing halal softgels means more than swapping a capsule shell. The gelatin source, the slaughter method, the cleaning agents and the line changeover all fall inside the halal scope. EUPHM runs dedicated halal softgel production with certified bovine gelatin, separate material handling and batch records that name the gelatin lot. We supply brand owners who need one manufacturer for both halal and mainstream SKUs, with the same fill weights and lead times.

Halal softgel capacity and line setup
EUPHM operates softgel lines with a rated output of 1.2 million capsules per shift. Halal runs are scheduled on dedicated equipment or after a documented halal-only changeover. We hold halal-certified bovine gelatin in segregated storage, with lot numbers recorded at dispensing. That matters if your certifier audits the supply chain rather than only the finished product.
Typical halal softgel projects sit between 50,000 and 500,000 units per SKU. Pilot runs from 1,000 units let you test fill weight, shell thickness and shelf life before committing to a full batch. We produce oval, oblong and round formats from 5 to 24 minim, with enteric options for ingredients that need to bypass the stomach.
Formulation for halal-certified fills
The shell is only half the halal question. Fill ingredients must also be free of alcohol, porcine derivatives and non-halal processing aids. We formulate with halal-certified carriers, and we ask for ingredient statements from every raw material supplier. Common halal softgel fills include halal fish oil, black seed oil, vitamin D3 from lanolin, CoQ10, astaxanthin and curcumin.
For omega-3, we use fish gelatin or halal bovine gelatin depending on your market. Vegan softgels use tapioca or modified corn starch, which suits buyers who want a plant-based claim alongside halal. Fill weights run from 150 mg to 1,500 mg. We can match an existing reference sample or develop a new formula from a target label.
Halal documentation and export compliance
Every halal batch ships with a certificate of analysis, a halal certificate naming the gelatin lot, and a batch record. We provide MSDS, allergen statements, nutritional panels and shelf-life data. For Middle East buyers, we prepare documents for Saudi SFDA, UAE MOHAP and GCC conformity. For EU and UK buyers, we supply statements for EFSA and UK FSA requirements.
EUPHM is an FDA-registered facility and holds GMP, ISO 22000 and HACCP certification. Halal certification is maintained through an independent certifying body, with annual audits. Lead times are 20–35 working days for mass production after you approve the sample and artwork. Shipping is by sea or air from Shenzhen and Hong Kong ports.
Quality Control and Batch Documentation
Every halal softgel batch is tested against a written specification before release. Incoming bovine gelatin is checked for bloom strength, viscosity and halal certificate validity, with the certificate number recorded against the lot. Finished softgels are tested for identity of actives by HPLC or GC where applicable, potency against label claim, total aerobic count, yeast and mould, E. coli and Salmonella, heavy metals by ICP-MS, and disintegration time. Testing is carried out in-process at encapsulation and on the finished batch, with results held in the batch record.
The certificate of analysis issued with each lot names the product, batch number, manufacturing date, expiry date, tests performed, specification limits and measured results. It also references the gelatin lot and the halal certificate covering that lot, so a halal auditor can trace the shell material back to its source. Where a customer needs additional tests, such as residual solvents or specific allergen screening, these are added to the protocol and quoted separately. Retained samples of every batch are kept for at least two years beyond expiry under controlled temperature and humidity.
Stability follows a standard protocol of 0, 3, 6, 12, 18 and 24 months at 25°C/60% RH and 30°C/65% RH, with accelerated conditions at 40°C/75% RH for 6 months. Softgels are monitored for appearance, fill weight, disintegration, peroxide value for oil fills, and potency. Stability data is compiled into a report that brand owners can use for their own regulatory filings. If a formula is new, a pilot stability batch can be run before commercial production to confirm the shell and fill are compatible.
Packaging, Labelling and Retail Readiness
Halal softgels can be packed in HDPE bottles from 30 to 500 count, blisters of 10 to 30 softgels, stick packs, or single-serve sachets. Bottles are induction-sealed and fitted with child-resistant or standard caps as required. Labelling follows the destination market: for the US, the FDA dietary supplement label elements are applied, including the supplement facts panel, serving size, amount per serving, other ingredients, and the mandatory disclaimer. For the EU, the nutrition declaration and allergen statement are formatted to Regulation 1169/2011. Lot number and expiry date are inkjet-coded on the bottle, carton and shipper.
Cartons are specified with dimensions, board grade and print colours, and pallets are built to a stated pattern with stretch wrap and edge protectors. Typical pallet configurations are 48 cartons per layer and 5 layers high for a 40HQ container, giving 240 cartons per pallet, but this is confirmed per SKU. For Amazon sellers, we apply FNSKU labels and poly-bag or shrink-wrap to the marketplace requirement, and we can print and apply the carton shipping labels. Retail compliance checks cover barcode scannability, net content statement and any market-specific halal logo approval.
Halal softgel MOQ, lead times and delivery terms
Sample lead time for a halal softgel is 7 to 10 working days from approved formula and shell specification. Samples are sent with a draft COA and a halal certificate copy for the gelatin lot used. Mass production runs 20 to 35 working days after sample approval and receipt of deposit, depending on softgel size, fill complexity and packaging format. Repeat orders with no changes typically sit at the lower end of that window. MOQ is 1,000 units per SKU, with lower quantities available for pilot runs on request.
Shipments are quoted EXW, FOB Shenzhen or Hong Kong, or DDP to the destination address. Air freight is used for samples and urgent launches, typically 5 to 8 days door to door, while sea freight for full containers takes 18 to 35 days depending on port. Documents provided with each shipment include the commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of analysis, material safety data sheet where applicable, and a free sale certificate. For markets that require it, a halal certificate for the finished product and a phytosanitary certificate for botanical ingredients can be arranged.

Questions buyers ask.
What makes a softgel halal-certified?+
The gelatin source, the slaughter method, the fill ingredients and the processing aids must all meet halal requirements. The certifying body audits the supply chain and the production line. EUPHM uses halal-certified bovine gelatin or fish gelatin, with lot-level traceability and a halal certificate issued per batch.
What is the MOQ for halal softgels?+
MOQ is 1,000 units per SKU for retail bottling. Pilot runs below that are possible for formula testing. Most first orders sit between 10,000 and 50,000 units per SKU, which covers initial retail launch volumes.
How long does halal softgel production take?+
Samples take 7–10 working days. Mass production takes 20–35 working days after you approve the sample, artwork and halal documentation. Shipping from Shenzhen or Hong Kong adds transit time depending on destination and mode.
Can you supply halal softgels for the Middle East?+
Yes. We prepare documents for Saudi SFDA, UAE MOHAP and GCC conformity, and we ship to Middle East ports by sea or air. Halal certification is maintained through an independent certifying body with annual audits.
Do you offer vegan halal softgels?+
Yes. Vegan softgels use tapioca or modified corn starch shells and are free of animal derivatives. They suit buyers who want a plant-based claim alongside halal. Fill weights run from 150 mg to 1,500 mg, with the same 1,000-unit MOQ.
How do you prevent cross-contamination between halal and non-halal softgel batches?+
Halal softgels are run on a dedicated line or after a validated cleaning changeover. The changeover covers the gelatin melter, transfer lines, encapsulation machine and drying trays, with cleaning verification swabs recorded in the batch record. Gelatin is stored in segregated, labelled containers, and only halal-certified gelatin is issued to the halal line. Production scheduling keeps halal batches together where possible to reduce changeover frequency.
Can you provide a halal certificate for the finished softgel, not just the gelatin?+
Yes. The finished-product halal certificate is issued by a recognised halal certification body and covers the softgel as manufactured at our facility. It references the product name, batch range and the gelatin supplier certificate. The certificate is provided as a PDF with each order and can be legalised or attested for markets that require it, such as Indonesia or Malaysia, at additional cost and lead time.
What is the shelf life of your halal softgels, and how is it supported?+
Shelf life is typically 24 months from the date of manufacture, supported by real-time stability data at 25°C/60% RH and accelerated data at 40°C/75% RH. The expiry date is printed on the bottle, carton and shipper. If your formula contains oxidation-sensitive oils, we recommend a shorter initial shelf life or the addition of an antioxidant, confirmed by stability results before the label is finalised.
