Overview

3D gummies are not standard drop-deposited bears. They are formed in machined moulds that hold a shape, a logo or a character through filling, setting and demoulding. This matters when the shape is part of the brand. EUPHM runs starch-moulding and metal-mould lines for 3D formats, with fill weights from 2 g to 8 g per piece. Production capacity is 1.2 million gummies per day across two shifts. Certifications include GMP, ISO 22000, HACCP, plus halal and vegan options.

3D moulding capability and tooling

3D gummies need a mould that holds detail. We cut tooling from food-grade silicone or metal, depending on run length. For runs under 50,000 units, silicone tooling keeps cost down and lead time short. For larger runs, metal tooling holds shape consistency across millions of pieces. Tooling lead time is 10-15 working days after artwork approval. We keep the tool for repeat orders at no extra charge for 24 months.

Each 3D shape has a minimum wall thickness to demould cleanly. We review your artwork or reference sample and confirm fill weight, draft angle and ejection. Typical 3D formats include animal characters, geometric shapes, logos and letterforms. We can match Pantone colours in the gummy body and add a contrasting centre layer if the design calls for it. Line speed is 1.2 million pieces per day, so a 100,000-unit run is a two-day fill.

Formulation for 3D gummies

A 3D gummy holds its shape only if the gel system is right. We use pectin, gelatin or modified starch, chosen by texture target, setting time and dietary requirement. Pectin suits vegan and halal claims. Gelatin gives a springier bite. Starch-moulded 3D pieces hold finer detail than deposited gummies, which matters for small logos and facial features. Active ingredients are added at the slurry stage to protect potency through the cook.

Common actives include vitamin C, vitamin D3, zinc, elderberry, melatonin, collagen and probiotics. For probiotics, we use a cold-set process to keep CFU counts above 1 billion per gummy at end of shelf life. Sugar-free versions use maltitol or allulose, with 0-2 g of sugar per piece. Flavour systems are oil-based or water-soluble, and we can match a reference taste profile within two sample rounds. Overages are set at 5-15% depending on the active and the 24-month shelf life target.

Quality control and export logistics

Every 3D gummy batch is tested for weight, hardness, colour and microbial load before release. We hold GMP, ISO 22000 and HACCP certification. Heavy metals, pesticide residue and allergen testing are done at a third-party lab per batch. Certificates of analysis go out with each shipment. For halal claims, we run dedicated lines and hold current certificates. Organic and options are available if your ingredient list qualifies.

We ship from Guangdong to the US, EU, UK and Middle East. Bottling is 60, 90, 120 or 180 count in PET or HDPE, with induction seals and child-resistant caps. Cartons are export-grade, and we handle labelling artwork for your market. Air freight takes 5-8 days to the US or EU. Sea freight is 18-30 days. We provide documents for customs: commercial invoice, packing list, COA, health certificate and certificate of origin. EUPHM supports DDP terms on request.

Quality Control and Batch Documentation

Every 3D gummy batch is sampled at three points: raw material intake, post-deposition before drying, and finished goods. Identity testing by FTIR confirms each active, while potency is assayed by HPLC for vitamins, minerals and botanical extracts. Microbial testing covers total aerobic count, yeast and mould, E. coli, Salmonella and Staphylococcus aureus. Heavy metals (lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury) are tested against EU and US limits. Disintegration testing follows USP <2040> for gummies, with a target of complete disintegration within 30 minutes in purified water at 37°C.

A certificate of analysis (COA) is issued for each lot and includes the batch number, production date, expiry date, test parameters, specification limits, results and the analyst’s signature. Retention samples of every batch are kept for the full shelf life plus six months, stored at 25°C/60% RH and 30°C/65% RH. Stability protocols run at 0, 3, 6, 12, 18 and 24 months for real-time data, with accelerated conditions at 40°C/75% RH for three months to support a two-year shelf life claim. Microbiological and potency results are trended batch to batch to detect drift.

For 3D formats, additional checks cover fill weight (2 g to 8 g, ±5%), shape integrity after demoulding, colour uniformity and seal strength of the primary packaging. Metal detection and X-ray inspection are used on the packing line for all export orders. Documented deviation and CAPA procedures are in place, and batch records are retained for five years. Customers receive the COA, a specification sheet and a declaration of allergen status with each shipment.

Packaging, Labelling and Retail Readiness

Primary packaging options include HDPE bottles with induction seals (60, 90, 120 and 150 count), blister packs, stick packs and single-serve sachets. Bottles are supplied with child-resistant or standard caps depending on market requirements. Labelling for the US market follows FDA dietary supplement rules: statement of identity, net quantity, supplement facts panel with serving size and percent daily value, ingredient list, allergen declaration, and the manufacturer/distributor address. Lot number and expiry date are inkjet-coded on the bottle and outer carton, with a minimum 24-month shelf life at dispatch.

Cartons are specified to withstand export handling: 5-ply corrugated board, with a maximum gross weight of 15 kg per carton. Pallet configuration is 1,200 x 1,000 mm or 1,200 x 800 mm, stretch-wrapped and corner-protected, with a maximum height of 1.8 m. For Amazon FBA, we apply FNSKU labels, poly-bagging where required, and carton weight and dimension labels that meet the retailer’s current requirements. Retail-ready packaging and display units can be produced on request.

Artwork and label proofs are checked against the target market’s regulations before printing. We do not provide regulatory advice, but we verify that the label content matches the approved formula and that claims are consistent with the customer’s own compliance review. Packaging components are tested for compatibility with the gummy base, including moisture migration and seal integrity, over a three-month period before mass production.

MOQ, Lead Times and Delivery

Sampling starts with a technical review of the shape file and formula. A 3D printed or machined mould prototype is produced within 7 to 10 working days, and samples are sent by courier for approval. The sample fee is credited against the first mass-production order. Once the sample is approved in writing, a deposit of 30% is required to schedule production. Mass production takes 20 to 35 working days after deposit and artwork approval, depending on the number of SKUs and packaging complexity.

Shipping is arranged by air or sea. Air freight to the US or EU typically takes 5 to 8 days door to door, while sea freight takes 25 to 35 days port to port. We quote EXW, FOB Shenzhen or Hong Kong, and DDP for most destinations. DDP pricing includes freight, insurance, customs clearance and duties, and is available for the US, UK, EU and Australia. For sea shipments, we provide a packing list, commercial invoice, bill of lading and certificate of origin.

Export documents include the COA, material safety data sheet (MSDS) where applicable, free-sale certificate, and phytosanitary certificate for plant-derived ingredients when required by the destination country. Halal and vegan certificates are provided on request. Orders are shipped from Guangdong, China, and we can consolidate multiple SKUs into a single container or air pallet to reduce freight cost. Lead times are confirmed in the proforma invoice and are subject to raw material availability.
