Flavored Powder Manufacturer for Drink Mixes and Stick Packs

Flavored Powder Manufacturer for Drink Mixes and Stick Packs

We produce flavoured supplement powders in retail tubs, stick packs and sachets. MOQ starts at 1,000 units per SKU. Samples ship in 7-10 working days from our GMP-certified plant in Guangdong.

Overview

Flavoured powders are a formulation and a manufacturing problem at the same time. Flavour, sweetener, acidulant and active ingredients have to stay stable through blending, filling and 24 months on a shelf. EUPHM runs flavoured powder production on dedicated lines for drink mixes, pre-workouts, electrolytes, collagen and greens blends. We handle flavour matching, pilot batches, filling into tubs or stick packs, and full documentation for US, EU, UK and Middle East buyers.

Blending and Filling Capacity

Our Guangdong plant runs two powder blending lines with 500 kg and 1,000 kg ribbon blenders. That supports batch sizes from 200 kg for pilot runs up to 5 tonnes for repeat orders. Filling runs on auger and volumetric fillers for tubs, and vertical form-fill-seal lines for stick packs and sachets. Typical output is 8,000-12,000 tubs or 60,000-90,000 stick packs per shift, depending on fill weight and flavour changeovers.

Changeover between flavours takes 45-90 minutes including full equipment washdown. For multi-SKU orders we schedule flavour blocks to reduce downtime and keep lead times predictable. Every batch is weighed, blended and filled under one roof, so you are not coordinating a blender, a filler and a packer separately. That matters when a launch has four flavours and one ship date.

Formulation Detail: Flavour, Texture and Actives

Flavoured powders fail for three common reasons: flavour fade, clumping, and actives that degrade before the shelf-life date. We build the formula around the delivery format. Stick packs need finer particle size and free-flowing agents such as silicon dioxide at 0.5-1.5%. Tubs with a scoop can take coarser granulation and higher flavour load. Acidulants like citric and malic acid are dosed at 1-4% for a clean tart profile without masking the active.

Sweetener systems are chosen for the market. Sucralose, stevia, monk fruit and allulose are all in routine use, alone or in blends. For EU and UK labels we track flavourings against Regulation 1334/2008 and allergen declarations against Annex II. For US labels we follow FDA 21 CFR 101.22 for flavour naming. Actives such as creatine, beta-alanine, electrolytes and collagen are dosed to your target and verified by third-party assay before filling.

Quality, Compliance and Export Logistics

Every flavoured powder batch is tested for identity, potency, microbial limits, heavy metals and moisture. We hold GMP, ISO 22000 and HACCP certification. Halal and status is available on lines that are segregated and audited for those claims. Certificates of analysis and full batch records are issued before shipment. We do not claim FDA approval; our facility is FDA-registered for export to the US market.

Export documentation covers US, EU, UK and Middle East destinations. We prepare commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, health certificates and halal certificates where required. Standard lead time for mass production is 20-35 working days after sample approval. Air freight samples take 3-5 days; sea freight for full orders runs 18-35 days depending on port. Cartons and tubs are packed to your retail spec, including shrink bands and lot coding.

Quality Control and Batch Documentation

Every flavoured powder batch is sampled at three points: incoming raw materials, post-blend homogeneity checks, and finished product before filling. Identity and potency testing uses HPLC or UV-Vis against a validated reference standard. Microbial testing covers total aerobic count, yeast and mould, E. coli, Salmonella and Staphylococcus aureus. Heavy metals (lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury) are tested per batch or per raw material lot depending on risk. Results are released only after all parameters meet the agreed specification, which is documented in the finished-product COA.

The COA issued with each batch lists product name, lot number, manufacture and expiry dates, fill weight, appearance, flavour profile, moisture content, pH (for drink mixes), assay results for key actives, microbial results, heavy metals, and a statement of conformity. Retention samples of every batch are kept for 24 months in controlled conditions (25°C/60% RH for standard, 30°C/65% RH for tropical). Stability protocols follow ICH Q1A(R2) guidelines with accelerated (40°C/75% RH for 6 months) and long-term (25°C/60% RH for 24 months) testing. Organoleptic checks (taste, colour, texture) are performed at 0, 3, 6, 12, 18 and 24 months.

For flavoured powders, additional tests address flavour stability: volatile compound retention is measured by GC-MS at 0 and 12 months, and colour change is assessed by spectrophotometer against a standard. If a batch fails any specification, it is quarantined and a deviation report is raised. The QA team investigates root cause, and corrective actions are documented before re-testing or rejection. Batch records include blending times, temperature and humidity logs, equipment cleanliness verification, and line clearance checks. These records are retained for five years and are available for buyer audit.

Microbial testing for powders includes a 48-hour incubation for total plate count and 5-day incubation for yeast and mould. Pathogen testing (Salmonella, E. coli O157:H7, Listeria) is outsourced to an ISO 17025-accredited third-party laboratory for each batch destined for US or EU markets. Water activity is measured to confirm below 0.6, which inhibits microbial growth. For stick packs, seal integrity is tested by dye penetration and burst testing at a sampling rate of 1 in 2,000 sachets.

Packaging, Labelling and Retail Readiness

Flavoured powders are filled into tubs (250 g to 2 kg), stick packs (3 g to 30 g), sachets (5 g to 50 g), or pouches with resealable zippers. Tubs use HDPE with induction seals and screw caps; stick packs use foil laminate (PET/AL/PE) with a tear notch. Filling lines run at 30 to 60 tubs per minute or 40 to 80 stick packs per minute depending on format. Nitrogen flushing is available for oxygen-sensitive actives. Each unit is coded with lot number and expiry date using inkjet or laser coding. Cartons are standard 5-ply corrugated with a maximum weight of 20 kg. Pallets are 1,200 x 1,000 mm or 1,200 x 800 mm, stretch-wrapped and strapped, with a maximum height of 1,800 mm including pallet.

For US dietary supplement labels, we support the following elements: statement of identity, net quantity of contents, supplement facts panel (with serving size, amounts per serving, % Daily Value where applicable), ingredient list using FDA-approved names, allergen declaration (e.g., milk, soy, wheat), and the required disclaimer for structure/function claims. We do not provide label design or claim substantiation; the brand owner is responsible for final label content and compliance. We can print labels in-house or apply customer-supplied labels. For EU/UK, labels must include the nutrition declaration, allergens in bold, and the food business operator address.

For Amazon FNSKU and retail compliance, we can apply FNSKU labels, poly-bag units with suffocation warning, and print lot/expiry on the unit and carton. We do not manage Amazon Seller Central accounts. Retail-ready packaging options include shelf-ready trays and display cartons. Barcodes (UPC/EAN) can be printed or verified on request. We provide a packaging specification sheet with dimensions, material composition, and fill weight tolerance (±2% for tubs, ±3% for stick packs). Carton markings include product name, lot, quantity, gross/net weight, and country of origin (China).

For stick packs, we recommend a minimum fill weight of 3 g to ensure seal integrity and easy tearing. Tubs are available with scoops (5 cc, 10 cc, 15 cc) and can include a tamper-evident band. We can also supply desiccant sachets for hygroscopic powders. Packaging materials are food-grade and meet EU 10/2011 and FDA 21 CFR 177 requirements. We provide a certificate of compliance for packaging materials on request. All packaging is inspected for defects (seal strength, print quality, cap torque) at start-up and every 30 minutes during production.

MOQ, Lead Times and Delivery

The minimum order quantity for flavoured powder production is 1,000 units per SKU, depending on packaging format and flavour complexity. Pilot runs of 500 to 1,000 units are available for market testing at a higher per-unit cost. Sample lead time is 7 to 10 working days after receipt of specifications and flavour brief. Samples are provided free of charge for standard stock flavours; custom flavour matching may incur a development fee, which is credited against the first production order. Sample shipments are sent by courier (DHL/FedEx) at the buyer's expense.

Mass production takes 20 to 35 working days after sample approval and receipt of deposit. This includes raw material procurement (7 to 10 days), blending and filling (5 to 10 days), and quality testing and release (5 to 7 days). Lead times are confirmed at order and may extend during peak seasons (Q3-Q4). We provide weekly production status updates. For urgent orders, a fast-track option (15 to 20 working days) is available subject to capacity and a surcharge.

Shipping options include air freight (5 to 10 days door-to-door) and sea freight (25 to 40 days port-to-port). We ship under EXW, FOB (Shenzhen or Hong Kong), or DDP (to US/EU addresses) terms. DDP includes customs clearance and duties but requires a valid importer of record. We provide the following documents: commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading/air waybill, certificate of origin, COA, MSDS (for powder, not classified as dangerous goods), free-sale certificate, and phytosanitary certificate where applicable (for botanical ingredients). For US imports, we can provide a prior notice confirmation. We do not provide customs brokerage services but can recommend freight forwarders.

For LCL sea shipments, we consolidate with other orders to reduce costs. FCL shipments are available for orders over 10 pallets. Air freight is recommended for samples and urgent orders under 500 kg. All shipments are palletised and stretch-wrapped. We can arrange insurance on request at 110% of invoice value. Delivery terms are confirmed in the proforma invoice. We recommend buyers verify import regulations in their destination country before ordering, as requirements for dietary supplements vary.

Questions buyers ask.

What is the MOQ for flavoured powder production?+

MOQ is 1,000 units per SKU for retail tubs and stick packs. Pilot runs can go lower, typically 500–1,000 units, so you can test a flavour before scaling. Bulk powder in 25 kg bags has a lower MOQ of 200 kg per batch.

How long do samples take?+

Sample lead time is 7-10 working days from brief and formula confirmation. That covers a pilot batch, sensory review and shipping by air. If you need a stock flavour profile, we can often ship within 5 working days.

Can you match a competitor's flavour?+

Yes. Send us a retail sample or a detailed flavour brief. We run a GC-MS profile where needed and return a matched pilot batch. Most matches are approved within two rounds. Custom flavour development is included in the sample fee, which is credited against your first order.

Which certifications apply to flavoured powders?+

Our plant holds GMP, ISO 22000 and HACCP. Halal and vegan claims are available on segregated, audited lines. Certificates are issued per batch. We are FDA-registered for US export and can supply health certificates for EU, UK and Middle East markets.

What is the shelf life of a flavoured powder?+

Typical shelf life is 18-24 months in a sealed tub or stick pack with proper moisture barrier. We run accelerated stability testing at 40°C/75% RH for 3 months to support your shelf-life claim. Flavour fade and clumping are the two main risks we test for before release.

What is the shelf life of your flavoured powders and how is it validated?+

Shelf life is typically 24 months from date of manufacture when stored in unopened packaging below 25°C and 60% relative humidity. We validate shelf life through accelerated stability testing at 40°C/75% RH for 6 months, which correlates to 24 months at ambient conditions, plus ongoing long-term testing at 25°C/60% RH. Organoleptic, microbial and potency tests are conducted at 0, 3, 6, 12, 18 and 24 months. We provide a stability summary report with the COA.

Can you produce flavoured powders with no artificial sweeteners or colours?+

Yes. We offer formulations sweetened with stevia, monk fruit, erythritol or sucrose, and coloured with natural sources such as beetroot, turmeric or spirulina. We can also produce unsweetened and uncoloured versions. Natural flavours are available, though they may have limited availability and higher cost. We will confirm the source and certification (e.g., organic, non-GMO) of each ingredient in the formulation sheet. Note that natural colours may fade over shelf life; we can advise on suitable alternatives.

What is your policy on allergen cross-contact and cleaning between batches?+

We follow a documented allergen control programme. Lines are cleaned and inspected between batches, with dedicated equipment for major allergens (milk, soy, wheat, egg, peanut, tree nuts) where feasible. For powders containing allergens, we schedule production at the end of a campaign and perform wet cleaning followed by verification swabs (ATP testing) before the next allergen-free batch. We declare all allergens on the label and can provide a cleaning validation report on request. We do not guarantee a completely allergen-free facility.
