Production capability for syrup formats
Syrup manufacturing at EUPHM uses jacketed stainless steel vessels with variable-speed agitation. We handle sugar-based and sugar-free syrups, including glycerol and sorbitol systems. Viscosity ranges from 50 cP to 3,500 cP at 25°C. Inline homogenisation keeps actives evenly dispersed, which matters for suspensions such as calcium carbonate or herbal extracts. Filling runs on automatic lines at 30 to 80 bottles per minute, depending on bottle size and fill volume.
We run hot-fill at 85-92°C for shelf-stable syrups and cold-fill with preservative systems for heat-sensitive ingredients. Nitrogen flushing is available for oxidation-prone actives. Each production order includes a batch record, fill weight checks every 30 minutes, and a retained sample. Changeover cleaning follows a validated SOP with swab testing for allergens and actives. This keeps cross-contamination risk low across multi-product schedules.
Formulation and ingredient detail
Syrup bases typically combine purified water, sucrose or non-nutritive sweeteners, humectants, acidulants, preservatives and flavour. Common actives include vitamin C, zinc, elderberry, ivy leaf, marshmallow root, honey and propolis. We adjust pH to 3.0-4.5 for microbial stability and use buffering agents to protect flavour. Sweetener systems can be sucrose, glucose, fructose, sucralose, stevia or monk fruit. Preservative options include potassium sorbate and sodium benzoate at permitted levels.
For organic or clean-label projects, we source and non-GMO ingredients with certificates of analysis. Vegan claims require no animal-derived carriers, which affects gelatine-free gelling agents and plant-based flavours. Halal certifications are available for syrup lines when the formulation and cleaning protocol meet the standard. We can match an existing competitor profile through reverse-engineering, or develop a new formula from a brief. Stability testing runs at 40°C/75% RH for 3 months to support a 24-month shelf life.
Quality control and logistics
Every syrup batch is tested for appearance, pH, viscosity, specific gravity, fill volume and microbial limits. We use HPLC for vitamin assays and ICP-MS for heavy metals. Micro tests cover total aerobic count, yeast and mould, E. coli and Salmonella. Results are released within 5-7 working days. Documentation includes certificate of analysis, batch record, MSDS and, where relevant, allergen statement. We hold GMP, ISO 22000 and HACCP certifications. FDA-registered facility status applies to our US-bound exports.
Shipping from Guangdong covers air and sea freight. Sea freight to the US West Coast takes 18-25 days; to Rotterdam, 28-35 days; to Jebel Ali, 20-28 days. We handle FOB, CIF and DDP terms. Packaging options include retail cartons, shrink sleeves, tamper-evident caps and child-resistant closures. MOQ for retail bottling is 1,000 units per SKU, with lower thresholds for pilot runs. Lead time is 20-35 working days after artwork and deposit confirmation.
Quality Control and Batch Documentation
Each syrup batch is sampled at three points: after mixing, after homogenisation and after filling. In-process checks cover pH, viscosity at 25°C, refractive index (Brix), appearance and fill weight. Microbiological testing includes total aerobic count, yeast and mould, E. coli and Salmonella, with results available within five working days. Heavy metals (lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury) are tested per raw material lot and per finished batch where the formulation includes botanical extracts or mineral salts.
Identity and potency testing is performed on active ingredients before batching and on the finished syrup where the marker is stable in liquid. For vitamins and herbal extracts, HPLC or UV methods are used according to the ingredient specification. Disintegration testing is not applicable to syrups; instead, we verify homogeneity by sampling from the top, middle and bottom of the mixing vessel. A certificate of analysis (COA) is issued for every batch and includes batch number, manufacturing date, expiry date, test parameters, specifications, results and acceptance criteria.
Retention samples of every batch are stored for the full shelf life plus six months at 25°C/60% RH and 30°C/65% RH. Accelerated stability studies at 40°C/75% RH run for three months to support a 24-month shelf life claim. We monitor pH, viscosity, microbial limits and package integrity at 0, 1, 2, 3, 6, 12, 18 and 24 months. Stability data can be shared under a confidentiality agreement for your regulatory dossier.
Batch records include raw material certificates, weighing records, mixing parameters, fill line settings, in-process check results, deviation reports and line clearance records. These documents are retained for five years and are available for audit. If you require a specific testing protocol beyond our standard panel, we can accommodate additional tests such as preservative efficacy testing or allergen screening, with a lead time of seven to ten working days.
Packaging, Labelling and Retail Readiness
Syrups are filled into PET or glass bottles from 30 ml to 500 ml, with options for tamper-evident caps, induction seals and child-resistant closures. For unit-dose formats, we offer 10 ml and 15 ml stick packs and 5 ml to 20 ml sachets. Bottles can be supplied in amber, clear or custom colours, with label placement options including wrap-around, front-and-back or shrink sleeve. Cartons are printed with lot number and expiry date using inkjet or laser coding, and we can apply Amazon FNSKU labels or retail-specific barcodes on request.
For the US market, we support FDA dietary-supplement label elements: statement of identity, net quantity, supplement facts panel, other ingredients list, suggested use, and the required disclaimer for structure/function claims. We do not provide legal review, but we check that the label file includes the mandatory fields before printing. For EU markets, we align with Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 for food labelling and the Nutrition and Health Claims Regulation where applicable. Lot and expiry coding follows your preferred format, such as YYMMDD or Julian date.
Carton specifications are tailored to your retail channel. Standard export cartons are 5-ply corrugated with a bursting strength of 18 kg/cm², and we can print up to four colours. Pallet configurations are designed to maximise container fill: typical 20 ft containers hold 20 pallets (1,200 x 1,000 mm) and 40 ft containers hold 40 pallets, with a maximum load height of 1.8 m. Shrink wrapping and edge protectors are applied as standard for sea freight.
For Amazon sellers, we can apply FNSKU labels, poly-bag units and prepare cartons according to Amazon's packaging requirements. We also provide high-resolution product images and label proofs for your listing. If you need retail-ready packaging such as display cartons or shelf-ready trays, we can quote separately. All packaging materials are food-grade and comply with EU 10/2011 and FDA 21 CFR 174-190 for food-contact substances.
MOQ, Lead Times and Delivery
Sampling starts with a formulation brief and target specification. We provide a quotation within three working days and, upon approval, produce a 1-2 L sample in seven to ten working days. Sample costs are credited against the first production order. For pilot runs, the MOQ is 1,000 units per SKU; for standard orders, it is 5,000 units per SKU. We can accommodate lower quantities for stability or clinical trial batches, subject to a minimum batch size of 50 L.
Mass production takes 20 to 35 working days after receipt of deposit and approval of all artwork and raw materials. This window includes raw material sourcing, batching, filling, labelling, quality testing and packing. If your formulation requires speciality ingredients with longer lead times, we will confirm the schedule before order confirmation. We provide weekly production updates and share pre-shipment samples for your approval before dispatch.
We offer EXW, FOB and DDP Incoterms. For small orders, air freight is available from Hong Kong or Shenzhen airports, with transit times of 3-7 days to major destinations. Sea freight is more economical for full container loads, with transit times of 20-35 days to Europe and 15-25 days to North America. We can arrange door-to-door delivery under DDP terms, including customs clearance and duties, for most countries.
Shipping documents include commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading or air waybill, certificate of analysis, MSDS (if applicable), free-sale certificate and, where relevant, phytosanitary certificate or certificate of origin. We can also provide a halal certificate for the finished product if required. All documents are issued in English and can be legalised or attested by a chamber of commerce upon request.
